While most people won’t ask this question to a mom with a special needs child, I’m sure they are thinking about it. I know I was, before we found out about our daughter.
When someone finds out that my daughter is special needs, I often get sympathy from them. I know that comes from a good place but it’s really the wrong emotion to have.
I can’t speak for everyone but I can speak for myself, and many other moms I have talked to.
Having a special needs child is amazing & more rewarding then I had ever thought possible. YES, it’s hard sometimes. There are moments where I feel like I’m a failure & I’ve cried from being stressed out, but those are few and far between.
More often, I feel so blessed! My daughter has more love in her spirit then I can believe. She is genuinely kind & happy & beautiful! It’s not just my daughter though. People (or kids) with special needs, have some of the BEST souls, if you just get to know them.
We work hard together & every day she improves. Yes, it takes work! But I can tell you, it is the most rewarding work I’ll ever do.
